Can Haz Desktop

I am sure it has been painfully obvious by my posts that I have been blogging from my Android phone for….over a year. It has been supremely difficult to update my pages and add those special touches that only a full computer can offer. Don’t get me wrong, the Android application for WordPress is awesome and all the updates just keep getting better! It is great for on the go posting and I will likely still use it as such.
However, my tech savvy brother has refurbished an old desktop computer he found. Check dis’ shit out:

computer

I have already messed with the old desktop photos and added my first sticker to the monitor. On the bottom left of the monitor is the bat symbol. Typical symbol of cavers.

I haven’t just dealt with the cosmetics of it. I got a USB wifi converter so I don’t have to use an ethernet cable. And I added a ton of updates to the virus protection software. I tried to download the Spotify player, but ran into some major playback issues, which means I’m stuck with the web player.

I have been making blogging plans the last few days. You might just pee yourself. Okay, well, maybe not that exciting. Please, go and inkle if you have the inkling. Don’t wait on me to stop spazzing about the fact that I have a computer again.

I have been able to update my About Me page. There are very few differences if you have already read it. I just made sure that my dates and such are appropriate.
You may not have noticed, but it was driving me nuts that my 365 Series Page wasn’t fully updated since I completed the blog series. It has said *Under Construction* for months. I finally fixed it!! Check out my 365 Series: 301-265.

I hope to have more fun blogs coming up soon. However, I must get my computer legs underneath me before I just post ten blogs in one day and overload with excitement.

Birthday Grill Building

image

In an attempt to trick Kit into thinking he wouldn’t get a birthday gift I waited over a week and surprised him with this. His birthday trip was the state fair remember.

I was lucky in that I was off work on a day he got scheduled to work. We got to work not long after lunch putting the new grill together.

image

The first steps were unpacking the grill, grabbing some chairs for comfort, setting up the camera and posing like nerds.

image

There were lots of ridiculous poses. Before we followed each assembly step we had a scavenger hunt for pieces. Some of them we discovered were actually inside the grill. Smart packing folks.

image

I don’t have many photos of us actually working on the grill because, well, we were working! With four people it went together quite well. I imagine doing it by myself would be much more dull and super slow as I switched between tools, instructions and grill.

image

Luckily, my friends/family that helped me had recently put together their own grills and were somewhat accustomed to the many and somewhat ambiguous steps.

It was worth all the hard work! Whoo!! We got it finished with plenty of time to spare. Time to marinate ribeye in a chipotle sauce. And time to chop veggies, spice and wrap them in oiled foil packets.

Kit didn’t act too surprised, but he isn’t the known for his game show style overreactions. I think he was pleased we had special steak, banana pepper poppers and squash/tomato/onion packets ready to throw on the grill. The new grill cooks like a dream!

Chicken Rosemary Pizza

image
So the other night me and the hubbster tried making chicken and rosemary pizza. It was pretty good which means that next time it will be awesome.

First, we made the dough using our bread maker. We followed the recipe except for our addition of 1/2 tablespoon of Italian seasoning.

The dough came put great and it rolled out like a dream. Only a tiny bit of flour dusting was kneaded. I also allowed the dried rosemary to soak in some olive oil for 20 minutes because I didn’t have fresh.
image
I generously brushed the dough with the rosemary and olive oil. Then layered my cooked, shredded chicken and sliced fresh mushrooms. Lately, I added the Italian blend shredded cheese and popped it into the oven on 350° for 20 minutes.

The final product speaks for itself.
However, we did decide on future changes:
1) Sauté mushrooms and onions for toppings.
2) Back off the Italian seasoning in the dough just a touch.
3) Use fresh rosemary and crush before putting on pizza.

Day 328: Braided Back

image

Over the last few days I have been practicing the herringbone braid and I see some very big improvements. The braid is less messy and much tighter all around. I also like to think it looks good with my uniform and big flat hat.

This style of braid tends to sit lower–at least how I do it–so it ensures my flat hat fits better,  my hair stays out of my face and off of my badges. All around it may be my regular hair style this summer.

I doubt that my explanation of how to accomplish this will help you. I suggest looking up proper how-tos and videos.
However, I will offer how I do it anyway. Brush through hair and split onto two bunches (instead of three for a regular braid).
Take a small amount from the outside of one bunch and pass it over to the other bunch. By outside, I mean the hair furthest away from the center part you have made. Repeat from the opposite bunch of hair.
The smaller amounts of hair you pass over means it will look more complex and cool. Once, I did this braid in such a way it looked as though I use three bunches of hair just like a regular braid-Oops!

I’m a long way from French braiding but I’m loving this for now :-)
