What I have Learned this Summer

-IPA is NOT International Pale Ale.
Thankfully, it was only family that heard this terrible misinformation I spewed. Oh wait, it was family that knows. They will never let me live this one down. For anyone else like me, it stands for Indian Pale Ale.

-Government shutdowns do happen and there isn’t a law saying the decision makers have to do anything. You say: Wait, there is a government shutdown?

-The value of a tongue scraper.
And, bacteria that lives on your tongue is quite, quite terrifying.

The microwaved versus filtered water post on Facebook is a hoax. I completely fell for it—the post said science fair project….Okay, that is terrible defense.
This type of urban legend is related to the girl who getting ready for prom/wedding cooks her insides at the tanning bed. This one isn’t related to one’s vanity, but to our fear of new (Read:  any) technology.

-I have missed having a computer SO DAMN MUCH. Yes, this may sound like chicken shit to some people with money to have several computers in their home. I have had a smart phone for over a year and that has been my computer. For most situations, this works. However, life is better with a full sized QWERTY keyboard. I simply adore the feel of real keys bumping under my fingers. I’m sorry that that had to sound slightly pornographic. I’ve got no link for this people.

-Music early in the morning makes me happy. Music while I cook or clean makes me happy. Music in the shower (singing, you pervs) makes me happy. I really love music just about all the time.

-As always, I have continue to remind myself that there is so much left to learn in the world. I can’t wait to find out more.

Can Haz Desktop

I am sure it has been painfully obvious by my posts that I have been blogging from my Android phone for….over a year. It has been supremely difficult to update my pages and add those special touches that only a full computer can offer. Don’t get me wrong, the Android application for WordPress is awesome and all the updates just keep getting better! It is great for on the go posting and I will likely still use it as such.
However, my tech savvy brother has refurbished an old desktop computer he found. Check dis’ shit out:

computer

I have already messed with the old desktop photos and added my first sticker to the monitor. On the bottom left of the monitor is the bat symbol. Typical symbol of cavers.

I haven’t just dealt with the cosmetics of it. I got a USB wifi converter so I don’t have to use an ethernet cable. And I added a ton of updates to the virus protection software. I tried to download the Spotify player, but ran into some major playback issues, which means I’m stuck with the web player.

I have been making blogging plans the last few days. You might just pee yourself. Okay, well, maybe not that exciting. Please, go and inkle if you have the inkling. Don’t wait on me to stop spazzing about the fact that I have a computer again.

I have been able to update my About Me page. There are very few differences if you have already read it. I just made sure that my dates and such are appropriate.
You may not have noticed, but it was driving me nuts that my 365 Series Page wasn’t fully updated since I completed the blog series. It has said *Under Construction* for months. I finally fixed it!! Check out my 365 Series: 301-265.

I hope to have more fun blogs coming up soon. However, I must get my computer legs underneath me before I just post ten blogs in one day and overload with excitement.

Day 289: Game Nights

image

Around Christmas, we all leave on our PJs (as long as possible) an drag out all the games we can find. The game pictured above is what I like to refer to as a smart folks’ game. It is called Set. There are different shapes, colors and types of shading. I play turns because I’m too much of a space cadet to play free for all. Awesome game for thinkers and I highly recommend it.

Hoopla is a super super fun game. It’s like a faster okay version of Cranium. Even better, the group works as a team to beat the clock. Competition, although nice at times, is not a strong suit of mine. It tastes yucky.

Boys playing something on the computer. The serious faces paired with the festive hats just kill me.

Frog Juice is a fun competive game where players try to collect ingredients for spells. It is a turn based game that is a mix of luck and wit of the player. The artwork on the cards are very enjoyable as well.

The final game I wish I had a picture of is a story telling game. I think it would be cool to play with younger children. The goal of the game, Gloom, is to kill the wretched family of five that you have and kill them in the most miserable ways.
Note, I said miserable not hack and slash gross. You get negative points (good) for making them miserable. You can collect those points when the character is dead.

Example, one of my characters was haunted by ghosts, Beth’s character won the lottery (uh oh, positive points!!), but he got robbed later. Murcia’s character got struck by lightening.
The better you tell a story of how the event on the card occurred, the more hilarious the whole game.
I want to add it to my collection soon.

Do you have a favorite boardgame or cardgame?
