Ultimate Fall Bucket List

Fall is my favorite time of year and I realized that it has become a thing to make seasonal bucket lists or other short term Fun To Do lists. I searched the topic to death and came up with a massive fall season Bucket List. I have already completed a couple and will insert those pictures as breaks from straight text.

Day 333: Raffy Bat

image

This is the Rafenesque’s big-eared bat at one of the cave entrances. Hope this helps: Raw-fin-nesk. If you think the Raffy’s common name is a mouth full then go ahead and Google their scientific name. I have a scientist buddy who spits them out without hesitation. Oh, to be a bat scientist.

I was ecstatic that I got to see him/her because I hadn’t seen one on person.

I have several awful pictures of me grinning widely just below him. Typically, me and self-portraits don’t have good results.

Even though four tours have been passing by this bat daily, he can’t be bothered.

Here’s a close up of the little beauty. He has one ear unfurled so he can listen to the world turn. You can see why they are called the big-eared bat.

Day 291: Ink Bat

bat final

I finally committed to a design and artist for my bat tattoo that I’ve wanted for about four years or so. I am currently the 5th day of healing. It has scabbed nicely and is starting to flake off. If you’re not tattoo savvy, this is a good thing.

I don’t always make the healthiest choices for my body (MacDonald’s, sodas, couch potato-ing), but for this tattoo I chose to use coconut oil to keep it lubricated. (I hope you’re laughing at the word “lubricated” too)

Coconut oil does tend to soak in pretty quickly, so I put it on two to three times a day. Typically, if my tattoo starts feeling really tight I know it is time. The cool thing about using coconut oil is that it doesn’t take very much. Granted, my tattoo doesn’t cover my entire back, but it really doesn’t take much! I am also washing it twice a day–as recommended. I am not a doctor, nor am I a tattoo artist. Don’t be a moron and take this blog as gospel and try to sue me later.

fresh tattAll in all, I am super pleased with my new tattoo. I am already scheming and finding halter and one shoulder tutorials on Pinterest. Look out, Summer! I am gonna be showing this tatt off like crazy! This tattoo was designed by my good friend and Camino partner, Jess. It was inked by her older brother, Randall. Thanks, guys!

What do you think of my new tattoo?

Do you have any cool tattoo stories or pictures of your ink that you wanna share?

Day 213: Restaurant Photo Bomb

image

After lunch I took my paper placemat and folded a bat. This is the style of bat I used to decorate at my wedding. So pretty :-)

Honestly, the two kids who photo bombed this picture….I don’t know em.

I joke. They were my lunch dates but they are hardly children. I grew up with these two cool cats and they just keep getting cooler.

They have already surpassed me in awesomeness and I strive to be as awesome as them.

The crazy gal on the right is designing my next tattoo which I hope to get this winter.
